NTL Healthcare aims to expand overseas with its cervical cancer Artificial Intelligence (AI) image reading system
The number of young cervical cancer patients is increasing. According to the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the number of cervical cancer patients in Korea increased by about 15% from 54,603 in 2015 to 63,051 in 2019 over a period of 4 years.
As the number of cervical cancer patients increases, the demand for medical professionals for diagnosis and reading is also increasing.
NTL Healthcare, Korean obstetrics and gynecology specialized company, recently received approval for the export of its cervical cancer image reading Artificial Intelligence (AI) screening system, "CerviCARE® AI," from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. NTL Healthcare plans to actively pursue overseas markets with this system.
The CerviCARE® AI system was developed by NTL Healthcare using cervical image big data accumulated over the past 27 years. According to NTL, the CerviCARE® AI system can detect normal, abnormal, and morphological abnormalities of the cervix with high accuracy. NTL Healthcare has received Class 2 medical device Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its software, and is currently conducting clinical research with domestic university hospitals.
Recently, NTL Healthcare has published a result of comparative study of deep learning and machine learning using Cervicography (cervical magnification imaging and reading system) images in the international academic journal Scientific Reports.
Tae-hee Kim, the CEO of NTL Healthcare, said that "CerviCARE® AI is the core of cervical cancer screening services accumulated by NTL over the past 27 years," and expressed hope that "CerviCARE® AI will bring a revolutionary change in cervical cancer screening in the overseas market, where remote medical services are being established."
NTL Healthcare is a company that introduced cervical magnification imaging and reading system in Korea in 1996, and provides various screening services such as cancer screening for women, including cervical cancer screening.
NTL is developing and supplying new products that can improve women's health. Last month, NTL announced that it will start developing a "cervical screening AI diagnostic medical camera" that combines an AI automatic reading function with an existing remote cervical cancer screening system.
