[Vietnam] Ho Chi Minh City Hospital Plans to Use AI to Detect Cervical Cancers in Women
Cervical cancer is a very common type
of cancer among women.
The Department of Health
in Ho Chi Minh City announced
that they will soon test
the application of artificial intelligence (AI)
in cervical cancer screenings
at specialized obstetrics and gynecology hospitals
such as Hung Vuong Hospital and Tu Du Hospital.
Hung Vuong and Tu Du Hospitals are planning
to apply AI in cancer screenings.
According to the Department of Health
in Ho Chi Minh City,
this AI cervical cancer screening system
can help detect cervical cancer early,
increase the chances of successful treatment,
minimize treatment costs and time,
and improve access to medical services.
According to Globocan, in 2020,
cervical cancer accounted for 2.3%
of all new cancer cases in Vietnam,
with an incidence rate of 6.6 per 100,000 people.
The mortality rate due to cervical cancer
was 3.4 per 100,000 people.
In Vietnam, approximately 14 women
are diagnosed with cervical cancer
and 7 women die from it every day.
